WARNING! Your doctor's recommendations for laboratory testing are top priority!

Every patient who goes to the Esculab DC receives the results of laboratory tests quickly, with a guarantee of reliability and correctness, thanks to modern and reliable technologies that are completely automated and exclude the possibility of an error in the laboratory. However, not all 100% correctness of the results depends on the laboratory. Often, the lab technician is already working with a ready-made sample, which the patient brings with him (urine, feces), whether a blood sample is taken for analysis with specific conditions or a patient's prior diet.

That is why, DC "Esculab" believes that the greatest responsibility for the results of laboratory studies lies, in fact, on the patient. It is for you, our visitors, that we have formulated a list of important recommendations that will help you prepare for laboratory researchers and be sure of the results.

BLOOD SAMPLING

To exclude factors that may affect the results of the research, DC "Esculab" advises to follow the following preparation rules:

  • An important condition for laboratory research is the delivery of blood on an empty stomach - a 6 -12 hour period of fasting.
  • On the day of the sampling, you can use a small amount of drinking water, preferably non-carbonated.
  • At 6-12 hours before taking blood, alcohol, smoking, food intake, and limiting severe physical activity should be excluded.
  • It is advisable to exclude the use of medicines and, if it is not possible to cancel the treatment, it is necessary to inform the laboratory about it.
  • Children under 5 years of age, before donating blood, it is desirable to drink boiled water (in portions to 150-200 ml., for 30 minutes).
  • For infants - before the blood sampling to withstand the maximum possible pause between feeding.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

When researching the reproductive index for women, it is mandatory to indicate the day of the menstrual cycle or the period of pregnancy in order to take into account the cyclicity of hormonal oscillations.

Prolactin

  • After a sleep, it should pass no more than 2 hours.
  • Blood sampling takes place in the morning in a state of rest. Before taking blood in 1 day, exclude palpation of the mammary glands, ultrasound examination of the mammary glands, gynecological procedures, sexual contacts, visits to the sauna, baths.

ACTH

  • Blood collection is conducted only until 10 o'clock in the morning - this is due to the daily human biorhythm.

PSA

  • The analysis appears in the morning on an empty stomach or during a working day after a six-hour break in eating (subject to avoiding the use of fatty foods).
  • Within 48 hours you should refrain from sexual intercourse.
  • It is recommended that this research be conducted not earlier than 6-7 days after any urological manipulations, digital rectal examination, bicycle ergometry, cystoscopy, colonoscopy, prostate massage.
  • It is recommended to refrain from physical exercises that can affect the prostate gland (cycling), thermal influences (sauna) during the three days before blood collection for research.

Cortisol

  • Repeated blood sampling to cortisol, it is desirable to spend at the same time;
  • Patients taking hormonal medications should not violate the schedule of admission on the day of sampling unless there are special recommendations from the attending physician.
URINE RESEARCH

To exclude factors that may affect the results of the research, DC "Esculab" advises to follow the following rules of preparation:

Carry out a careful toilet of the external genitalia as follows:

  • Women before the urine collection introduce a gynecological swab to the vagina.
  • For men - a careful toilet of the external genitalia with the opening of the penis head.
  • For infants - after a careful toilet of genital organs, it is desirable to collect urine in a special urine receiver (sold in pharmacies is already ready for girls and boys separately). WARNING! Urine removed from the diaper, not subject for the research. Urine is collected in a special sterile container.

To increase the reliability of the results, it is not recommended to pass several different urine tests one day.

GENERAL URINE TEST (RESEARCH):

  • Morning urine is completely assembled into a plastic sterile container of at least 30 ml in which it will be delivered to the laboratory.
  • The urea container is tightly closed with a lid, placed in a clean, single-use package and delivered to the laboratory center not later than 2 hours after the gathering.

URINE ANALYSIS BY NECHIPORENKO:

  • Urine (used in the middle morning portion) is collected in a sterile container, requires at least 25 ml.
  • The urea container is tightly closed with a lid, placed in a clean, single-use package and delivered to the laboratory center not later than 2 hours after the gathering.

ANALYSIS OF URINE FOR GLUCOSE:

  • A daily portion of urine is needed for the research.
  • For gathering of a daily urine, it is necessary to use a dry, clean container preferably from a dark glass, or after putting the material into a dark package. In this case, the urine capacity should be stored in a cool place (preferably in the refrigerator on the lower shelf at to = + 4-8 °C), avoiding freezing.
  • After gathering the urine, its volume is precisely measured, mixed thoroughly and poured 100 ml of the total volume into a sterile container. The urea container is tightly closed with a lid, placed in a clean, disposable package and delivered to the laboratory center.
  • It is obligatory to indicate on the container the total volume of urine collected per day (daily diuresis).

ANALYSIS OF URINE ON CORTISOL:

  • Collect urine for 24 hours in the usual drinking mode.
  • In the morning, after waking up, empty the bladder (this portion of urine is disposed of).
  • All subsequent portions of urine are collected within 24 hours in a clean capacity of at least 3 liters.
  • To the first portion of urine, in a prepared large capacity for collection, add a preservative boric acid (2 packets of 10g).
  • Close the container to collect urine with a tight lid, gently mix the contents.
  • During the collection day, store the urine in a cool, dark place (preferably in the refrigerator on the lower shelf at t = + 4-8 ° C). Do not allow freezing!
  • Mix the contents of the container every time after adding the next portion, closing the container for tight sealing tightly.
  • The last portion of urine was collected at the same time the next day when the collection started on the eve. For example, if urine collection was started at 8:00 am, then at 8:00 am the next day, it is necessary to empty the bladder and add the last portion to the total volume in the container.
  • Mix thoroughly all collected urine.
  • Pour 100 ml of urine into a sterile container and deliver it to the laboratory center.
  • It is obligatory to indicate on the container the total volume of urine collected per day (daily diuresis).
SPERMOGRAM

To exclude factors that may affect the results of the research, DC "Esculab" advises to follow the following rules of preparation for the study of spermogram*:

  • Sexual abstinence - from 2 to 7 days.
  • In a repeated study - the same number of days of sexual intercourse, as at the first.
  • Refusal of any alcoholic beverages, reception of hypnotics, soothing, potent drugs, etc. If it is not possible to avoid admission, consult a doctor!
  • Eliminate the thermal impact on the genital area during the day (refrain from visiting saunas, baths, taking hot baths, heating seats in the car).
  • Conduct research no earlier than 2 weeks after inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract, acute colds and other diseases that are accompanied by an increase in temperature.
  • Eliminate heavy physical activity and stress on the eve of the study.
  • It is important to collect all the ejaculate (each drop), remember that the first portion of sperm contains the largest number of spermatozoon.
  • Exact determination of ejaculate volume.

* In cases where the rules for preparation for a spermogram are violated, the result of the study will be incorrect and its indicators cannot be compared with the reference ones.

Remember!  Admission of any medicines, smoking, alcohol and coffee can affect the results of laboratory tests.

WARNING! The spermogram refers to ultra-sensitive laboratory testing methods, so carefully prepare for delivery. If the results go beyond the norm, you should reprint the spermogram in 1-2 weeks. It is important to clearly observe all stages of preparation for research in order to retransmit spermograms.
